Bodemloos

Bodemloos
explores the soil of the province of Groningen through the division and combination of three different sectors: industry (Eemshaven), agriculture, and environmental conservation (the Wadden). All three collectively shape the North of the Netherlands, yet are treated as separate landscapes. In its current state, Bodemloos showcases the first experiments of interdisciplinary artist and researcher Nienke Roth, through which she works on deepening her relationship with the ‘soilscapes’ of the Netherlands. Her ecology-focused practice recognizes the importance and existence of what we cannot see, as well as how alienating it can be to exist within a land that is, to a great extent, man made.

Bodemloos is being brewed within the context of New Horizon Initiative, in collaboration with researchers at NIOO KNAW (Netherlands Institute for Ecology).
